HER EXCELLENCY MS BOLORMAA BATSAIKHAN, AMBASSADOR OF MONGOLIA TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC, MET WITH MR IVO MARCIN, DEPUTY MINISTER OF THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC, ON 6 AUGUST 2026.
The meeting focused on environmental protection, climate change, mining and preparations for the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17).
Ambassador B. Bolormaa outlined the current state of environmental cooperation between Mongolia and the Czech Republic and discussed opportunities to expand it. She highlighted several promising areas, including the reintroduction of the Przewalski’s horse (takhi) to its native habitat, forestry partnerships, waste recycling and geological research. Both sides expressed their commitment to further developing cooperation in these fields.
The two sides also discussed Deputy Minister Marcin’s upcoming visit to Mongolia, where he will lead the Czech delegation to UNCCD COP17. They reviewed the preparations and programme for the visit and explored ways to use the Conference as an opportunity to launch new bilateral initiatives.
Deputy Minister Ivo Marcin explained that his responsibilities include overseeing projects and programmes supported by the Czech State Environmental Fund and European Union funding mechanisms. He expressed the Czech side’s readiness to share its expertise and experience with Mongolia and to explore opportunities for implementing joint projects.
