The 95th anniversary of Prague Zoo and the 15th anniversary of the “Return of the Wild Horses” project were marked at Prague Zoo on 28 September 2026.

Ambassador H.E. Ms Bolormaa Batsaikhan attended the event and extended warm congratulations to the leadership and staff of Prague Zoo on its 95th anniversary. She also expressed appreciation for the Zoo’s long-standing contribution to the protection, breeding and reintroduction of Przewalski’s horses to Mongolia, noting that this cooperation has become a tangible symbol of friendship and partnership between Mongolia and the Czech Republic.

Between 2011 and 2019, Prague Zoo, in cooperation with the Czech Air Force and Mongolian partners, transported a total of 34 Przewalski’s horses to Mongolia in nine operations. Today, more than 800 horses live and reproduce freely in Mongolia’s three reintroduction areas.

Prague Zoo and its Mongolian partners are now preparing a new reintroduction project in the Valley of Monasteries in the Numrug Strictly Protected Area in Dornod Province. The project will be implemented under the patronage of the President of Mongolia.

During the anniversary event, Ambassador H.E. Ms Bolormaa formally presented a certified copy of the relevant Order of the Head of the Office of the President of Mongolia to Prague Zoo Director Lenka Poliaková.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr Kairat Abdrakhmanov also attended the event and presented Kazakhstan’s experience in the reintroduction of Przewalski’s horses.

The Embassy of Mongolia extends its sincere appreciation to Director Lenka Poliaková and the team of Prague Zoo, the Czech-Mongolian Friendship and Cooperation Society , artist Bolor Badam and her fellow performers, and Honorary Consul of Mongolia Pavel Rejchrt for their valuable contribution and support in organizing the anniversary event.
