The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) held the third Prague Defence Summit on 16–18 September 2026. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš stressed the importance of strengthening European defence while pursuing peace and diplomatic solutions to the Russia–Ukraine conflict. He also proposed “Euro Patriot,” a joint European missile and drone defence system.

Czech Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna outlined plans for the armed forces’ development through 2040, focusing on territorial defence, command and control, and counter-drone capabilities. He also highlighted efforts to strengthen professional forces, active reserves and voluntary military training rather than rush to reintroduce conscription.
