Ambassador B.Bolormaa met with Professor Jiří Zima, Rector of Charles University, on 16 September 2026 to exchange views on expanding cooperation between Mongolia and the Czech Republic in the fields of education, science, and culture.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the rich tradition of educational cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador noted that since the first five Mongolian students arrived in Czechoslovakia in 1955 to pursue higher education, hundreds of Mongolian citizens have graduated from Czech universities and contributed significantly to Mongolia’s development. She also informed the Rector that 16 Mongolian students who recently arrived in the Czech Republic under the President of Mongolia’s “President’s Scholarship 2100” Programme are currently studying the Czech language at Charles University’s Language and Preparatory Study Centre in Poděbrady.

The two sides emphasized the importance of preserving and further strengthening the long-standing tradition of Mongolian Studies at Charles University and exchanged views on continuing support for academic and research cooperation in this field.

They also discussed several successful examples of Mongolian-Czech cooperation in science and culture, including the long-standing collaboration in geology, the project to reintroduce the Przewalski’s horse to Mongolia, and the planned exhibition of Mongolian dinosaur fossils at the National Museum of the Czech Republic in 2027.

Furthermore, the parties agreed to explore ways to enhance direct cooperation between the National University of Mongolia and Charles University, including through expanding exchanges of students, faculty members, and researchers, as well as developing joint academic and research programmes.
