AMBASSADOR BOLORMAA MEETS CHARLES UNIVERSITY LEADERSHIP TO DISCUSS THE FUTURE OF MONGOLIAN STUDIES
Ambassador B. Bolormaa, together with Indonesian Ambassador Rina Soemarno and representatives of the Embassies of India and Viet Nam, met with Charles University Rector Jiří Zima and the leadership of the Faculty of Arts. They discussed the potential impact of the Faculty’s planned restructuring on Mongolian and other Asian Studies programmes.
Ambassador B.Bolormaa recalled that Mongolia and the Czech Republic elevated their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership during the Mongolian President’s 2025 State Visit. She stressed that education, science and research are key pillars of this partnership and that Mongolian Studies at Charles University has connected the two countries since the 1950s. Preserving its academic identity, standing and long tradition is therefore in the shared interests of both countries.
The University leadership explained that the restructuring aims to meet accreditation requirements, ensure the programme’s sustainability and enable new student admissions. The name “Institute of Asian Studies” will be retained, along with the commitment to continue developing Mongolian Studies.

The two sides agreed to continue working-level discussions on academic exchanges, joint research, dual and joint degree programmes, and the long-term development of Mongolian Studies.
